"Why doesn't God show himself?"

My five-year-old daughter asked me this question one day, looking up at me with curious eyes. It made me smile because it's not just a child's question - many of us wonder the same thing.

We often want to see things to believe them. That's natural - our eyes help us understand our world. And when it comes to God, we have this deep wish to see and know Him better.

The Prophet even said we should "Worship God as if you see Him. And even though you do not see Him, He sees you."

But what does that really mean for us?

When we talk about seeing God, we're not talking about seeing with our eyes. It’s about seeing with our hearts.

Here’s a Sufi Comic that explore this:

Seeing God isn't about using our eyes. It's about using our hearts. It's like when you feel loved - you can't see love with your eyes, but you know it's there when someone hugs you or helps you.

God shows Himself in similar ways - through the good things around us. It's in the morning sun that wakes us up, in the rain that helps plants grow, and in the kindness we see in people.

When I tried to explain this to my daughter, I told her God does show Himself, just not in the way we see people and things. He shows Himself through signs.

She gave me that thoughtful look kids get when they're thinking about something big, then went back to playing. 😊

I hope I planted a seed. 🌱
